Event Description

PADDLERS! MEET AT THE SOUTH CAROLINA WELCOME STATION AT 7:30AM ON SATURDAY, MAY 30TH CALL CAROL IF YOU ARE RUNNING LATE. 704 236 0929

Join us as we drive down to Columbia SC to paddle Cedar Creek in the Congaree National Park. Bring your own kayak or canoe. If you need a boat, pls post on this page and maybe someone with an extra boat will help out. If you have an extra boat you are willing loan to someone, please post here.

This will be a fairly easy flat water paddle downstream, break for lunch (bring your own) and then back up to our launch site. The current will depend on the amount of recent rainfall and a portage or two is possible but not likely. This paddle will take us deeper into the swamp where bird watching and other wildlife viewing is great. Who knows.....maybe we will find the Ivory Billed Woodpecker reportedly seen in this Park.

We will post details when the date gets closer and we know how many people will be joining us. PLEASE RSVP on this page if you want to go with us. Updates will be sent to respondents.

Two Canoe Rental Places in Columbia if you want to arrange for your own canoe.
Adventure Carolina-803-796-4505
Adventure Carolina: Rates are $35.00@ day for a boat, paddle, PFD and ropes to secure the boat onto your car. They are the closest, 25 miles, to the Cedar Creek Landing put-in, and suggested calling and making a reservation.

I'm a new joiner and I wish I could make it - we already had plans this weekend. I did upload an album on here of our last paddle down Cedar Creek.

I will not be able to attend as I will be in Beaufort. I am paddling the Combahee. Just a note, There is not very much parking at the Cedar Creek landing and there is a short portage. When I was there last, I had to unload the trailer and then back all the way out to the road. There really is no turn around area. I did not know what put in you were using. I have never been to the Bannister Bridge put in.

I am driving a suv and it can hold 1 more 10 feet kayak(not fat boat), if somebody lives close to Tega cay and want to stick the boat into my car to carpool with me, please send me message. I will be happy to share it.
