I might have Twittered, but having been taught by the good sisters of the Blessed Sacrament I believe that's a sin. I could Face Book but then i would actually have to join Face Book and I can't bring myself to do it. So that leaves me with this handy, ready to use blog space that I will fill with random ramblings about life, death and the meaning of the universe as exposed by my garden.
I write completely for my own pleasure, and to make a little record of whats happening in the garden throughout the summer. If you happen to stumble in here please bear this in mind. (The thoughts expressed are the sole responsibility of the odd person expressing them and in no way represent the opinions of HAWK,NCWF, blah, blah). In fact, I kind of think of this blog as the English Ivy growing in a bed of native perennials. Oh the horror.

I'll get started with my first love, the kitchen garden. Everything went in over the past week, once temps stayed above 50 at night. This is about a week later than I normally plant. Just too cold I thought to go sooner.
So here's what's in the ground. Sugar snap peas - a nice dwarf variety called Cascadia. A reliable eggplant variety - Dusky. Plain old basil. Pole beans, including my first try at a pole lima. A bell pepper and 2 tomatoes- Early Girl , which was planted on March 9th using the amazing wall-o-water and this years heirloom, The Mortgage Lifter. I've also got a cherry tomato, Yellow Pear in a container and various lettuces, carrots and herbs are potted up as well.
Enough for today. I'll start making pithy comments about the individual varieties in days to come.
