This is one of the latest NC license plates in production. They have not been released yet and won't be released until they have a minimum order of about 300. As of this email, they have less than 52 to go! A great looking tag with a great message.
It'll cost an additional $20.00 each time you new your tag, but the funds go to our state parks.

I love it! Do you have to be up for renewal to order or can you change plates mid-year?

No, you don't have to be up for tag renewal. Once you get this new one, you simply go to the NC License Tag office and turn in your existing tag and they remove it from the system so you are no longer paying for that tag. You will, however pay the normal yearly NC License tag renewal fee on this new tag, plus another $20.00 since it's a "specialty" tag. That extra fee goes to the North Carolina Park system, so it's for a great cause.
