I heard about it on Science Friday and did a post on Smell Like Dirt about it but did not put it on this site. Good idea. I'll try to post the podcast as well. Thanks for the suggestion.
we'll have to wait and see how much rain is forecast. we'll make the decision early on Thursday. What's your vote? Go anyway or reschedule? Or is it dependent on the chance of rain? That's where I am.

Than as long as you have first hand knowledge, do you like the Endurance level jacket and pants? Do you think they are adequate? Enjoyed meeting you and Kathleen. I had great fun and am looking forward to many more!
Mike, did you know that you can add an RSS feed from your blog to this page? Look at my page on the lower left hand column. I have an RSS feed from Smell Like Dirt there so when I post blog, it automatically updates here
Saw your comment on the kayak event and answered there but also cc'ing you here: It takes two hours to get there, so we we leave Charlotte at 7am, we're down there around 9am. By the time we are on the water, its 9:30 at least. Then paddling, breaking for lunch, paddling upstream and reloading everyone's boats will take time and then another 2 hours home. We may be home before 7pm but it just depends. Hope you can make it.
Mike, yes you can enable this site to contact you when events are posted. Next time you log on, go to the "Settings" icon in the upper right of your page. Under Settings, you'll see "EMail" to the left. When you go into that section, you can personalize how you are notified from activity on this site.
Hope that helps. The film and panel event went well. You might be interested in the upcoming Muddy Waters Watch program in January. I'll post something here soon.

Welcome, Mike! Good to have another paddler in the mix. I hope you find this network a useful one. Check out the next meeting of the Mountain Island Chapter in the "Events" section.

Met Andy Hoxie Today
Through the Catawba Cruisers paddling group, I met Andy Hoxie, fellow NCWF member, on the water today. He brought up NCWF and the Congaree Swamp trip in March. I sure hope we can make that trip.
When the cold weather arrives, we have a flock of turkey vultures that congregate in a section of trees in our neighborhood. There are about a 100 of them this year. Since they are such large birds, and we all know they're carrion eaters, it's kinda creepy. The house across the street seems to be a favorite morning warm-up spot. Unfortunately, I hear their talons will damage shingles - not to mention much more noticeable excrement.
