Mandy, I would like to invite you to participate in the planting of longleaf pine trees as outlined under the events calendar dated February 13, 2010. This is a Saturday outing and will involve a drive to Southern Pines, NC located in the Sandhills of NC. There will be a similar opportunity on the following two Saturdays Feb 20 and Feb 27. I am working to help organize as large of a turn-out as possible. This event is being sponsored by The Nature Conservancy of North Carolina and will give all participants a first hand look at the longleaf pine ecosystem and an opportunity to offset part of our carbon footprint. You can call me at (980) 875-8900 for more details.
If you are doing a workshop and need some help or speakers, several of us in the HAWK chapter are certified by the National Wildlife Federation as "Wildlife Habitat Stewards", and we will be more than happy to help you or give a slide presentation at your workshop. We also have connections to some other great local speakers on various environmental topics that may be of interest to you.
Let us know if you would like some assistance.

Have you checked out the Habitat Steward Training we are doing in Sept? You may want to sign up. Its 3 days 8a-5pm. Its a great course designed by the National Wildlife Federation.
Welcome, Mandy!
Great to have Rock Hill represented here. South Carolina has quite a number of NWF certified wildlife habitats. I am very impressed with the state's efforts. Hope to see you at our September HAWK meeting.
