Katie, Tim wanted me to bring to your attention the Meck Cty Tree Seedling sale (my blog post front page or on my page). Are ya'll in the market for some native trees/shrubs? If so, I'd be happy to pick them up for you. You have to order and pay by Oct 30 and then pick them up in Jan. In true Tim fashion, I have no info on why he thought you might be interested but....he says jump and I say How High....followed by some obscenities usually.....let me know
Thanks for the welcome Katie. I grew up in Charlotte and have been a forester for over thirty years. I have been living in Raleigh for the past 21 years. I retired in 2005 as Progress Energy's Senoir Forester and am now the Forest Stewardship Coordinator and Forest Legacy Coordinator with the Forest Service. Last year we conserved over 1,000 acre in the Forest Legacy Program with a lot of help from the Coastal Area Land Trust. It will be working forest forever as long ther is a constitution to protect it. Ive seen a lot of changes in NC over the past decades; not all of them favorable to a forester. The most devasting was taking my teenage boys hiking through Linville Gorge and seeing all the hemlocks dying. I remember hiking there in 1968 when I was their age and the forest looked like one out of 'Lord lof the Rings'.
Katie, I am available for a few hrs Sat. I had planned on taking my 6yrold son to the show. If we can volunteer together and enjoy the show before or after that would be great. If he is to young, no problem, I can still volunteer for a few hrs.
is the site loading better now that the pic of Tim has been removed? It was a high resolution photo that was taking a long time to upload each time someone signed on. Let me know if you have any suggestions for improvement!
I just wanted to check in with you and the Capital Chapter to see how things in general are going for your group. We hope all chapters will have a great year and our overall membership will continue to grow and be active.
Happy new year to you!
