Does anybody know any outfitters who sell used kayaks?

Check with the MRP - Mecklenburg Regional Paddlers. www.mpronline.org. Their members are often selling used equip. I'm not aware of any outfitters who sell them, although the whitewater center might in the future, whenever they start to replace theirs. They have both whitewater and rec kayaks out there.

The Great Outdoor Provision Company, Park Road Shopping Center in Charlotte, posts kayaks for sale by private owners. The store does not sell used boats though. Most are sold through internet sites or ads in publications. A popular website is www.paddle.net.

Thanks for the reply. I'm actually looking for a light weight sit on top. I have a Liquid Logic manta ray 14 ' and wanted a little lighter boat. I can't stop getting older, but I can buy lighter gear.

Yes, the store in Greensboro, can't remember the name, Google kayaks in G'boro. They used to have good used boats and also demo boats for sale. Good prices on new boats, too. Ginny

Kitty Hawk Sports do sell off a number of kayaks every year...located in several stores north and south of Nags Head.

Craigslist under KAYAK or KAYAKS and be sure to search SC separately. And Diane Willis has a very nice Hurricane Expedition for sale - flatwater type - that she graciously let me try out. Very solid and stable, waves and wakes were no problem for a 200# kind of guy and the cockpit wasn't designed for marathon runners. I lucked up on a much more economical boat but hers was very fairly priced considering it's a composite boat.
