Dr. Siefferman will teach participants how to spot beautiful local birds, including the Eastern Bluebird, and she will also explain how to attract these birds to your own backyards. Dr. Siefferman is a biologist at Appalachian State University. She is an expert on the Eastern Bluebird and her research focuses primarily on plumage coloration in the Eastern Bluebird. Dr. Siefferman recently received the Conference of Southern Graduate Schools’ Achievement Award for New Scholars in the Life Sciences for her research on the Eastern Bluebird. The tour will take place at Appalachian State University’s Sustainable Development Farm, and the group will meet first in the parking lot of Earthfare at 7:45 am. Cost is $15 for members and $25 for non-members. All proceeds will benefit PACT, the local branch of the North Carolina Wildlife Federation. Sign up early as space is limited.
